With a consistency similar to paint, Solvent-Free Gel is a favorite of artists that paint outside, travel by air, or want to work without odor or solvent. Our palest gel medium, Solvent-Free Gel dries to a bright, glossy finish. Use sparingly with oil colors, no more than 25% by volume. Not a varnish.

Solvent-Free Gel gives colors more flow, transparency, and holds the shape of your brushmarks. Solvent-Free Gel increases gloss. Solvent-Free Gel has a moderate dry time rate of 3-4 days on average when used in moderation.
We suggest to only use up to 25% Solvent-Free Gel in mixture with Artists Oil Colors. (A little goes a long way.) Using too much Solvent-Free Gel can cause extended dry time rates, wrinkling, and excess yellowing in your paint layers.
Unlike Galkyd Gel or Galkyd Lite Gel, Solvent-Free Gel is made from safflower oil and alkyd resin and does not contain Gamsol.
